Strengthening Western Australia as a global leader in critical minerals
Western Australia’s (WA) Minister for Mining, Petroleum and Exploration, Hon. David Michael MLA, has concluded a successful mission to Canada and the United States.
This mission brought together 16 Western Australian delegates, industry leaders, US and Canadian businesses, investors and key stakeholders, providing a valuable platform to promote project opportunities and strengthen international connections.

Key highlights from the mission included:
- Participating in the world’s premier mineral exploration and mining convention Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) in Toronto. Minister Michael highlighted the significant role critical minerals play in diversifying global supply chains and reaffirmed Western Australia’s long-standing commitment to deepening its relationship with Canada.
- Two separate networking events in Toronto - one hosted by the Canadian Australian Chamber of Commerce and another hosted by Invest and Trade Western Australia. These events enabled delegates to engage with senior leaders from Canada’s mining sector and provided a platform to, promote project opportunities and strengthen international connections.
- A visit to Green Tech Hub finalist, eZinc, to learn more about their innovative long duration energy storage technology and how it can support Western Australia’s transition to net zero.
- A critical minerals investor networking event in New York, hosted by Austrade, Geoscience Australia and American Australian Association which enabled the delegation to establish valuable relationships with key international investors.
