The Successful Investment and Trade mission to Vietnam Concludes

The investment and trade mission to Vietnam has concluded following engagements in Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The mission reinforced aligned interests in energy security, aviation connectivity, and other priority sectors, while exploring new opportunities for trade and partnership.

Led by Premier Roger Cook, the delegation included Agriculture and Food Minister Jackie Jarvis, Parliamentary Secretary Samantha Rowe, and 32 Western Australian (WA) organisations specialising in the primary industries, international education and energy sectors.

Following the mission to India, the Vietnam mission reinforced WA’s commitment to long-term engagement in the Indo-Pacific. The mission also highlighted the value of in-person engagements between government and industry to establish opportunities across trade, investment and international partnerships.

Premier Cook met with Nguyen Van Ut, Chairman of the Dong Nai City People's Committee, to discuss opportunities for WA to work together in agriculture, energy, and education and training. Discussions included exploring potential long-term partnerships across industrial, logistics and infrastructure ecosystems around Long Thanh International Airport.

The Premier visited the site of Long Thanh International Airport ahead of its expected opening in December 2026. The airport is expected to strengthen Dong Nai’s position as a regional hub for major logistics, trade and investment. The new international airport has the potential to create a range of opportunities across aviation, services and logistics for WA companies.

Minister Jarvis and delegates specialising in food security and food and beverage met with major agribusinesses, GREENFEED and Khai Anh Binh Thuan JSC, to promote WA’s strengths in feed grains, livestock production and food security. The delegation also engaged with international gourmet food retailers to explore opportunities for WA value-added food and beverage products in Vietnam’s growing consumer market. With a population of 101 million and one of Asia’s fastest-growing economies, Vietnam presents significant opportunities for WA exporters. Rising incomes and evolving consumer preferences are driving demand for premium food and beverage products, creating new opportunities for WA.

Parliamentary Secretary Rowe and international education delegates visited Saigon International School and Western Australia International School System. The visit reinforced continued collaboration in the delivery of the Western Australian Certificate of Education program to strengthen pathways for graduates to pursue further education opportunities in WA.

The Premier delivered a keynote address at the Hanoi Western Australia Evening Reception, which brought together nearly 100 WA delegates alongside Vietnamese business and government leaders. The event also marked the official launch of WA's State of Energy campaign in Hanoi.

Premier Cook also met with Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nguyễn Minh Vũ, and Deputy Minister, Nguyễn Mạnh Cường, to explore cooperation across energy, aviation, agriculture, education and shipbuilding. Meetings with EVN, Vietnam's national electricity utility, and T&T Group opened direct conversations between Vietnamese energy players and WA LNG operators and battery manufacturers.

A meeting with Vietnam Airlines focused on aviation connectivity and the potential for stronger direct links between WA and Vietnam.

Minister Jarvis and delegates specialising in food security and food and beverage met with major agribusinesses Mavin Group, Thai Tan and TH Group to promote WA's strengths in feed grains, livestock production and food security. The Minister also met with Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to discuss market access and regulatory settings for WA agricultural exports. Vietnam's livestock and dairy sectors are scaling rapidly to meet domestic demand, and its feed manufacturing industry is among the largest in Southeast Asia. This growth is driving demand for high-quality imported feed grains and breeding stock, where WA has a well-established competitive advantage.

Vietnam is an increasingly important partner to WA and is the State's 15th largest trading partner, with two-way trade valued at $2.7 billion.

This mission reinforced long-standing connections while fostering new pathways for collaboration across energy, agrifood and education, supporting economic growth and security for both WA and Vietnam.
