It’s Innovation Week at World Expo in Osaka, Japan!

 World Expo (Expo) is a major global conference held every five years, bringing nations together to share ideas and solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges.

 Expo, which began in April, is a six month event which will run through to October 2025. During that time, Invest and Trade Western Australia is delivering a series of activations to showcase the State’s capabilities on the global stage. This month, Expo is looking at innovation and technology for the cities and societies of the future.

 Innovation Week began on 19 May, with a sold-out Western Australia Innovator Roundtable event featuring SeaStock, a Western Australia Innovators of the Year 2024 runner-up and homegrown biotechnology company which specialises in developing methane-reducing livestock feed additives and a natural colourant in food, cosmetics and medicines from red seaweed (Asparagopsis).

 The roundtable highlighted the Western Australian Government’s strong support for the State’s local innovation ecosystem through its Innovation Strategy and initiatives such as state-funded innovation hubs and specialised grant and awards programs.

Innovation conversations at Expo continued throughout the week, as Invest and Trade Western Australia joined the Australian Department of Industry, Science and Resources for its 45 Years of Australia-Japan Science and Technology Cooperation Dinner in the Australia Pavilion.

 Expo provides an excellent opportunity for local businesses looking to connect across global markets.

 Invest and Trade Western Australia looks forward to promoting priority areas across health and medical life sciences, energy and First Nations people at Expo, as well as fostering new investment and trade opportunities and partnerships with Japan during the next five months.
