Western Australia’s Investment and Trade Plan launched

The Western Australian Government has unveiled its Investment and Trade Plan 2021-22.

Minister for State Development, Jobs and Trade, Roger Cook, launched the new plan at the Invest and Trade Western Showcase event on 18 October 2021.

The plan outlines the investment and trade activities that will be undertaken by the Government in 2021-22. The activities in the plan are aligned to the eight priority sectors in Diversify WA, the State’s economic development framework.

The plan is supported by a suite of updated Market Outlooks for 2021-22 which provide WA business with information about investment and trade opportunities in key international markets.

Speaking to guests at the event, which was hosted by the Perth USAsia Centre on behalf of the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI), Minister Cook said: “Our Investment and Trade Plan 2021-22 provides a clear roadmap for WA’s strategic and collaborative approach to investment and trade, and their role in unlocking opportunities for sustained economic activity and the creation of quality local jobs.

“Our Market Outlooks provide accessible, market-specific information for local businesses interested in pursuing investment and trade opportunities.”

Around 150 guests attended the launch event, which was also live-streamed.

Guests included Mr Toru Suzuki, Consul-General of Japan in Perth, Mr David Gainer, Consul-General of the United States of America in Perth and Ms Rebecca Brown, Director General, JTSI.

The Agent General and Investment and Trade Commissioners participated in a panel discussion, facilitated by Mr Gordon Flake, Chief Executive Officer of Perth USAsia Centre, where they outlined WA’s investment and trade priorities within their respective markets.

At the event, Minister Cook also announced that Ms Nicole Fasana, Investment and Trade Commissioner for North East Asia, Ms Krista Dunstan, Investment and Trade Commissioner for ASEAN and Mr John Langoulant AO, Agent General for Western Australia in the United Kingdom/Europe region, will head into market in the next few weeks.

Ms Juan Lu, Investment and Trade Commissioner for China, will be deployed to China in early 2022, with the Investment and Trade Commissioner for India-Gulf to follow.

“I congratulate our Agent General and Investment and Trade Commissioners on their appointments and wish them well on their overseas deployment to advance WA’s investment and trade efforts.”
