WA’s critical technology on fast track into US market

Western Australia’s world-leading critical tech sector is entering the US through a new WA Government program.
The 12 successful applicants for the new program – the ‘Global Growth Accelerator Program: WA Critical Tech to the US' – were announced at the West Tech Festival in Perth.
They were chosen for driving innovation in sectors including mining and resources, energy, defence and space, and their interest in pursuing dual-use applications.
WA’s critical technology sector produces world-class products and solutions that cross multiple industries, and the program is designed to build on this to achieve global success.
The program’s activities will help participants to refine their market strategies and gain access to US customers, investors, and partners in civilian and defence markets. An introduction and in-person session kicked off at the West Tech Fest.
Starting in January 2025, the accelerator program will run over 3 months, combining virtual and in-person sessions, including workshops led by US defence and technology leaders.
The final event will be a customised business mission to Austin, Texas, which includes an immersive in-market experience in the South by Southwest (SXSW) 2025 conference.
Delivered with support from the New Industries Fund (NIF), this Global Growth Accelerator Program is the first to use the accelerator approach to support WA companies into an international market.
The program is hosted by Invest and Trade Western Australia’s Americas hub in Austin, which provides valuable in-market assistance to Western Australian companies looking to access trade and investment opportunities in the US.
