Cathy Kng
Acting Investment and Trade Commissioner for China
Cathy is the Acting Investment and Trade Commissioner for Greater China and works as part of Invest and Trade Western Australia.
As Acting Investment and Trade Commissioner, Cathy and her team based in Shanghai and Hangzhou, China work to attract investment and grow trade opportunities for Western Australian businesses within the Greater China region.
Cathy has most recently been the Regional Director – ASEAN (Primary Industries) in the Invest and Trade WA Singapore Office where she provides support to Western Australian agrifood businesses looking to export to the ASEAN region.
Prior to this, Cathy was the Director Investment and Trade in the Singapore Office where she progressed investment and trade opportunities for the State in key sectors such as energy, health and medical life sciences and innovation.
Cathy holds a Bachelor of Science (Food Studies) and speaks a number of languages, including English, Mandarin, Malay and Korean.

Reconnecting with Zhejiang Province

The Invest and Trade Western Australia has hosted the first delegation from Zhejiang Province this year. The reconnection was welcome after almost three years of hybrid and virtual meetings due to border disruptions.

Mr GE Xuebin, Vice President of the Zhejiang China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (ZCCPIT) led a six-member delegation to Perth from 11 to 13 July 2023. While in Perth, the delegation met with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). JTSI and DPIRD briefed the delegation on Western Australia’s economy, government policies and the agrifood sector. ZCCPIT provided a presentation on Zhejiang’s modern cities and premium food and beverages trading hubs, and the opportunities for Western Australian producers to showcase their products.
The ZCCPIT delegation also met with the Australia China Business Council (WA) and various Zhejiang businesses operating in Western Australia during this visit.

Western Australia and Zhejiang Province have a long history of friendship and in 2022, celebrated the 35-year anniversary of the Sister State relationship.
