We would like to extend a warm welcome to the European Union (EU) media delegation who have touched down in Western Australia this week.
The delegation of 5 journalists is being supported by the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation’s Invest and Trade WA organisation as part of the International Media Visits (IMV) program, a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) initiative.
This is the third such visit supported by Invest and Trade WA, with other IMV delegations visiting from South Korea and India.
During their 5-day visit, the delegation will be given an in-depth look into WA’s critical minerals, green hydrogen, supply chain and sustainable agriculture sectors.
They will also attend briefings by the Department’s Invest and Trade WA, Industry Development, and Hydrogen and New Energies teams on the international orientation of the WA economy, its future diversification, and how this relates to the abovementioned sectors.
Industry site visits are also being undertaken to the Western Trade Coast Global Advanced Industries Hub, the Food Innovation Precinct of WA, Fremantle Port and the Pilbara region.
The journalists have also met with the Hon Matthew Swinbourn MLA, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Energy; Hydrogen Industry; and Industrial Relations; the Attorney General; and the Minister for Electoral Affairs.
The visit underscores WA’s commitment to deepening its collaboration with the EU and other international partners in the critical minerals, green hydrogen, supply chain and sustainable agriculture sectors, as well as promoting a deeper understanding of the State’s journey to net zero.
More information about WA’s critical minerals and green hydrogen strategies can be found in the WA Government’s Battery and Critical Minerals Prospectus and Renewable Hydrogen Investment Prospectus.
