WA highlights energy opportunities at Tokyo Hydrogen Expo
Invest and Trade Western Australia’s Tokyo office exhibited at the Australian pavilion at FC Expo 2023 from 14 to 17 March in Japan.
FC Expo is the world’s largest international exhibition and conference, specialising in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
Launched in 2005, the event showcases technologies for production, transportation, storage and use of hydrogen, and is a must-attend business platform for industry professionals all over the world.
Taking place during World Smart Energy Week, FC Expo is one of seven shows showcasing the latest technologies, information and people accelerating business in the global energy industry.
Running for three days between March 15-17, World Smart Energy Week is the world’s largest smart energy show, hosting 1,134 exhibitors and 65,196 attendees.
The Australian pavilion at FC Expo featured co-exhibitor businesses and promoted via the Invest and Trade Western Australia network.
Woodside Energy's announcement of its participation in collaboration with the WA stand at the expo was accompanied by an introduction to the company's business and projects at the stand.
The event was a fantastic opportunity for Invest and Trade Western Australia to foster connections with Japanese companies, becoming a valuable point of contact as a leading Western Australian agency able to promote the State’s potential, with its various hydrogen projects and developments.
The Hon Bill Johnston MLA, Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Energy; Corrective Services; Industrial Relation, visited the Expo as part of the Japan leg of the Western Australian mission to Canada, the United States of America, Japan and South Korea.
While at FC Expo, the Minister toured the ITWA stand as well as the booths of Western Australian companies participating in the Battery Japan and Decarbonisation Expo, gaining insights into their technology products.
Japan aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 26 per cent of its 2013 level by 2030 and to achieve a decarbonised society by 2050.
Against the background of the formulation of various policies and measures by the government and local authorities, further business development and the building of the value chain between WA and Japan towards carbon neutrality is anticipated.
