Western Australia launches investment platform for global investors

Investment opportunities in Western Australia will be even easier to access with the launch of a new online platform.

WA Investments is a live digital ‘investment dealbook’ which showcases investment-ready commercial projects in Western Australia with a value above $10 million.

The platform is the product of a partnership between the Western Australian Government, through Invest and Trade Western Australia, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA (CCIWA).

WA Investments was officially launched on Friday, 24 March by Western Australia State Development, Jobs and Trade Minister Roger Cook, with more than 35 projects at a combined value of approximately $6 billion currently featured on the platform.

“Through the establishment of Invest and Trade Western Australia in 2019, the Government has taken a very proactive approach to attracting investment and promoting trade opportunities in our State,” Minister Cook said.

WA Investments not only highlights the strength of Western Australia as an investment destination, it connects global audiences to the type of opportunities they are interested in and assists them with contacting investment proponents.

In addition to projects in advanced manufacturing and infrastructure, WA Investments focuses on the eight priority sectors outlined in the WA Government’s economic development framework, Diversify WA - energy, tourism, events and creative industries, international education, defence industries, mining and mining equipment, technology and services, space industries, health and medical life sciences, and primary industries.

According to CCIWA CEO Chris Rodwell, WA is in the box seat to draw in capital from around the world.

“We want to ensure our State is on the front foot to strengthen and diversify its economy, whether it’s in critical minerals, hydrogen, advanced manufacturing, life sciences or some other emerging industry,” said Mr Rodwell.

Simone Spencer, Deputy Director General Strategy and International Engagement at the Department of Jobs Tourism Science and Innovation, explained that WA Investments will be promoted offshore through Invest and Trade Western Australia’s global network and trusted global partners.

“Across the entire Invest and Trade Western Australia network we are seeing unprecedented interest in our State and what it has to offer. We look forward to working closely with industry and the business community, including our partners at CCIWA, as we put the case of ‘Why WA’ to the world,” Ms Spencer said.
